Three challenges facing blockchain technology

A bitterly fractioned nation heads into the 2020 presidential election with accusations of potential voter fraud, calls for retards and charges of voter inhibition as district and local election officials cope with the ongoing threat of COVID-1 9.

Their challenge: Keep the polling places safe and effective while providing more effective and trustworthy options for citizens.

Efforts to expand mail-in voting alternatives because of COVID-1 9 were criticized for overwhelming election salesclerks and disenfranchising voters, whose votes were either lost or not counted during the primaries.

Recently, government and media criticism of tolerating more mail-in voting beyond traditional absentee ballots has shed a draconian light on breaches in the system.

I believe we can implement a better technology preference that guarantees a voter’s identity, keeps the vote anonymous and prevents voters safe from COVID-1 9. A mobile voting plan that furnishes a supplemental option to in-person voting impels the most sense in this highly charged political atmosphere.

We have an outmoded voting organisation

Efforts to provide voting alternatives beyond in-person balloting have increased over the years to encourage greater turnout, which will continue abysmally low-grade. Ideas such as mail-in balloting, spread hours, weekend electing and other options have found desegregated success, but still rely on aged, outdated handles. The decentralized structure of the U.S. election process, in which individual cities choice their opted voting approach, has resulted in voting maneuvers that series from paper referendums to mechanical voting machines to electronic voting via a touch-screen tablet.

One merely needs to look at the 2000 presidential election recount to see this archaic process in action, as the period “hanging chad” entered the lexicon. Many efforts around improving the election process began as a consequence of the 2000 ballot, but now, two decades later, there continues to realize the same process, and the same mistakes, in numerous locations.

Efforts is targeted at expanding mail-in voting earlier this year during the primaries were troubling. In one Pennsylvania county, 6,000 voters “re not” mailed their ballots until the day before the election, preventing them from getting referendums postmarked before the deadline.

Across the nation, voters requested ballots but did not receive them in time to vote. Even when referendums were mailed in on time, election officials were overtaken with the spike in volume.

In-person voting: Long paths, masks, perilous for at-risk people

With the COVID-1 9 virus maintaining its hold on a large part of the country, election officials need to develop in-person voting plans that retain residents safe, but the potential for disaster towers. In many locales, a presidential election often reactions in long arguments and wait times at polling centres, often with understaffed officials or voluntaries making tables to verify voter registration.

Many of these voluntaries are older Americans, members of the highest-risk population for developing serious complications from the virus. Not only will election officials need to ensure the safety of voters, but they will also need to make sure their own workers and voluntaries are protected. This implies developing more etiquettes, testing and potential disinfection procedures, which could extend the time it takes for people to vote.

Given its full potential of a multihour wait with hundreds or more parties in line, many citizens would likely simply be selected not vote, which would be a greater disaster to American democracy.

Mobile voting is secure

A portable voting structure stands registered voters to use their mobile phones and a verified app to record their vote. Using blockchain technology, an app can provide an scrutiny road that substantiates the name of the voter, and keeps their vote anonymous. Mobile voting systems can also include a newspaper record for added security.

Early portable voting curricula have allowed an easier channel for citizens and military personnel overseas to cast their referendums. The same is true for individuals with physical disabilities that could also be vulnerable to the COVID-1 9 virus.

A 2018 portable voting pilot program for citizens and military personnel overseas held in West Virginia provided a high rate of date.

Mobile voting has also proved most secure than other electronic voting procedures, including web-based voting plans. Critics of electronic voting have hurled accusations of potential hacking, but the facts tell a different story.

As of May 2020, Tusk Philanthropies has successfully completed 14 portable voting aviators in five countries with several portable voting engineering pulpits and a mix of overseas voters and those with disabilities. It’s good to be concerned about election security, but portable voting volunteers more defence than existing electoral systems, which are capable of include late or lost referendums, incorrect stigmatizes, machine explosions and other errors.

Democracy is strengthened when everyone participates

In these challenging and worrisome times, trust and faith in our government leaders is of utmost importance. The liberty for Americans to become involved in a safe, secure and trustworthy environment is fundamental to continue the ideals that so many of our precedes opposed and died to protect.

When more citizens participate in the process, republic is strengthened. Failing to explore brand-new options to prevent a voting accident this dusk amidst a world-wide pandemic have had an opportunity to grave repercussions on the future of this nation.
